Essential Oils for Cleansing your Lymphatic System

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

Cleansing your Lymphatic system should be done regularly as part of your self care routine. Cleansing your system basically gets rid of toxic “sludge” that builds up in your body.

Regular aromatherapy treatments in conjunction with exercise and a healthy diet can assist the body’s natural eliminatory response by stimulating the liver, lungs and lymphatic system, kidneys, bowels, and sweat glands.

As always, there are many different essential oils that can be used. Those with depurative (blood-cleansing), diuretic (increases the production and secretion of urine) and stimulant properties are the most helpful.

There are several essential oils that possess both depurative and diuretic properties which makes them particularly useful for supporting the body’s natural detox process.

These include Fennel, Grapefruit, Juniper berry and Lemon.

Other useful diuretic oils are Cypress, Geranium, Tangerine, Patchouli and Rosemary.

Spice oils such as Black Pepper, Clove, Cardamon, Cinnamon and Ginger can help to stimulate the circulation and flow of lymph.

Fennel also helps stimulate the circulatory system.

Grapefruit and Wild Orange have a stimulant effect on both the digestive and lymphatic system.

Cypress and Rosemary are also hepatic, which means they help stimulate and aid liver function.

Geranium supports the body’s natural ability to rid itself of unwanted substances.

Cilantro supports the body’s natural process of eliminating toxins.

15 Ways to Fight Inflammation

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

Your immune system protects you from germs and other foreign substances that could make you sick by making parts of your body heat up and swell. However, sometimes it goes too far. That’s when such inflammation become chronic as a response to stress, junk food, or other lifestyle triggers.

This chronic inflammation is associated with many serious health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, arthritis, fatigue, and depression. To reduce your risk, you may need to change your diet and other daily practices.

Start with these ideas for following an anti-inflammatory lifestyle.

Eating to Reduce Inflammation:

1. Focus on plants.
Most vegetables and fruits are rich in protective compounds like antioxidants and polyphenols. Load up on spinach, kale, berries, and citrus fruit. Some vegetables like asparagus and sweet potatoes also serve as prebiotics that tighten your gut and lower inflammation.

2. Limit refined carbohydrates.
On the other hand, foods like white bread and snack cakes have been stripped of fiber and nutrients. They encourage chronic inflammation and weight gain.

3. Steam and grill.
Your cooking methods matter too. Instead of frying with oil, try steaming with water or grilling with dry heat.

4. Drink coffee.
Moderate amounts of coffee also provide beneficial polyphenols. Just steer clear of the flavored coffee creams that are full of artificial thickening agents and sweeteners.

5. Add garlic.
Many natural seasonings have anti-inflammatory properties. Spread roasted garlic on bread or add it to mashed potatoes and homemade pizza.

6. Choose healthy fats.
Not all fats are created equal. Monounsaturated and omega-3 fats help to decrease inflammation. Good sources include olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish. By contrast, saturated fats aggravate inflammation, so go easy on the red meat and whole fat dairy products. Avoid trans fats.

Other Lifestyle Changes to Reduce Inflammation:

1. Lose weight.
You can experience chronic inflammation even if you’re thin. Still, maintaining a healthy weight makes you less vulnerable.

2. Exercise regularly.
Exercise has an overall positive effect. While an intense workout may cause temporary inflammation, it enhances your health in the long run.

3. Drink water.
Staying hydrated is essential. Quench your thirst with plain water and tea instead of soda and juice.

4. Brush and floss.
Bacteria from your mouth and gums can travel to the rest of your body. Aim to brush and floss for at least 2 minutes twice each day. I would also add tongue scraping.

5. Use natural cleansers.
Check the labels on your household cleaners and personal beauty products. You may be able to avoid potential toxins by buying organic brands or using plain vinegar and baking soda.

6. Quit smoking and limit alcohol.
Tobacco and alcohol aggravate inflammation. Many adults need more than one attempt to become tobacco-free, and combining nicotine therapy with counseling may lead to success this time.

7. Check your medication.
Some over-the-counter and prescription drugs have side effects that reduce inflammation. If your doctor recommends that you take aspirin daily or prescribes statins to lower your cholesterol, you can consider this a bonus.

8. Sleep well.
Most adults need about 8 hours sleep to keep their minds and bodies strong. Go to bed and wake up on consistent schedule and keep your bedroom dark and quiet.

9. Relax and refresh.
Managing stress plays a major role. Find a relaxation practice that works for you such as daily meditation or taking long walks.

You can reduce chronic inflammation by watching what you eat and drink and making other positive lifestyle choices, like adding essential oils to your day. Protect your wellbeing and support healthy aging by bringing chronic inflammation under control.

Oil Pulling How & Why

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

BENEFITS OF OIL PULLING

Does swishing oil around your mouth for 20 minutes every morning sound cool or
gross? What if you heard that doing so might clear up your skin, improve your oral
hygiene, and whiten your teeth in addition to a slew of other health benefits?
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic technique that has resurfaced in the modern
health scape.
When swished around in the mouth, the antibacterial properties of oil pull out bacteria and fungus, which may help alleviate inflammation, congestion, and even allergies. I add a drop of essential oil, usually On Guard, for added benefits.

Oil pulling may help with:
• Bad breath
• Bleeding gums
• Cavities
• Gingivitis
• Plaque
• Sensitive teeth
• Moistening the mouth, lips, and throat

Oil pulling is even said to help relieve stomach issues such as:

  • Ulcers
  • Kidney function

Although it may sound a bit intimidating and complex, oil pulling is actually
one of the simplest self-care measures you can take. It can also be inexpensive,
depending on what type of oil you use.

OIL PULLING INSTRUCTIONS

It’s best to practice oil pulling in the morning, but you will benefit from doing it any time of day and for any amount of time. Start small and work your way up! It will quickly become as natural as brushing your teeth.

1| Measure out 1–2 teaspoons of oil and put it in your mouth. Coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil is recommended for best results. Use the highest quality oil possible.

2| Swish and pull the oil around your mouth and between your teeth. Start with five minutes and build your way up to 20 minutes or more. Be careful not to swallow the oil since it contains toxins and bacteria from your mouth.

3| When you’re ready to spit out the liquid, make sure you do so in the garbage. The contaminated oil can clog your pipes.

4| Rinse your mouth out with salt water or water mixed with a little apple cider vinegar to ensure that all the oil is out of your mouth.

5| After you’ve thoroughly rinsed your mouth, brush your teeth well to kill any bacterial remnants.

6| Smile in the mirror and thank yourself for taking time to take care of you! Self-care should be an extremely high priority for you. When you care for yourself deeply, you’re able to show up in the world in a big way.

Say no to Lysol

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

SAY NO TO LYSOL!

Please read this before you stock up with the Lysol wipes and sprays. I can share something safer & more effective!!

Flu season is upon us & maybe you are seeing the “Lysol everything” posts.

We can’t know what we don’t know.

Did you know that Lysol spray is purposely made sticky? You spray it in the air and it doesn’t actually diminish odors, it masks them.

The sticky spray particles are inhaled by the user (and anyone who has the misfortune of being nearby) coating the hairs in the nose so you can only smell the Lysol. The bad smell is still in the air, you just can’t smell anything but what is stuck up your nose.

The sticky particles are also inhaled into your lungs. Your lungs will produce mucous to rid the lung cilia of the sticky substance.

Excess mucous floods your lungs, causing chest congestion, wheezing, hopefully coughing to clear it out, but ultimately, you are drowning in your own phlegm. This is an asthmatic reaction that can send the sensitive to the Emergency Room.

Ask yourself- Is 👆🏼THAT ☝🏼 something we should be subjecting a human being fighting something that’s already producing mucus???

Lysol also has other harmful effects that damage body systems; endocrine disruptors, central nervous system effects.

Lysol is actually classified as a pesticide by the FDA.

This product gets an ‘F’ in EWG. It’s the absolute lowest, most dangerous score possible.

Ridding our households of the things we are in control of one by one is our responsibility. I used to use all these types of products until I learned better.

💪🏼 Knowledge is power 💪🏼

Let’s not overload our bodies with toxins while fighting illness & instead replace those toxins (& mindsets) with NUTRIENTS & IMMUNITY building ingredients to STRENGTHEN our immune systems! 💪🏼

We are the gate keepers of our home.

Opt for making simple and inexpensive non-toxic cleaners from ingredients already lying around your house.

On Guard essential oil (our natural immune support) is PHENOMENAL in what it can do against viruses and bacteria.
Here is a science experiment that has the proof right here.
Every day and in the midst of what’s happening in the world today…this is what my family uses:
👉 Washes our hands with On Guard foaming hand soap all throughout the day.
👉 Uses On Guard hand sanitizing just (has alcohol AND On Guard… POWERFUL!)
👉 We clean and sanitize our home with On Guard concentrate cleaner.
👉 On Guard oil is on the spine and feet of all the kids. + We added in today On Guard+ softgels internally because we aren’t taking any chances!

What the On Guard softgels contains not only On Guard which is SUPER immune boosting and protecting, but also other POWERFUL essential oils proven to be effective against viruses and bacteria.
On Guard On Guard On Guard! If you don’t have any I can help you get some! https://doterra.me/LGHw8YDW
Topically, Internally, Aromatically (DIFFUSE!!)

Reduce your Toxic Load

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

Reducing the toxins in your life

Toxic Free Living

Did you know you can clean with essential oils too?
They have lots of great cleansing properties.
I am all about natural, fewer toxins in our home.
Do you know how many toxins are in your home? The same toxins that you expose your children too?
They are in your shampoo. In your air fresheners. Your laundry soap.
I have been using natural cleaners for about 3 or 4 years. Now I can’t even walk down the cleaner aisle without getting a headache.
Perfume section of a department store is completely out of the question.
The long term effects of these cleaners are horrific. They can cause cancer, asthma, allergies, and infertility. This isn’t even a complete list. Why hasn’t the FDA cracked down on cleaners instead of going after people who want to make soap in their own kitchen? I know it’s the EPA that regulates cleaning supplies.

Here are a few super easy DIY recipes you can make at home. Some say but I don’t have time or money. I can honestly say DIY is cheaper. It also healthier. You either pay with your time now or the doctor later.

Homemade Febreeze

I use 8-10 drops of purification blend in a brown, glass spray bottle.
Fill the rest of the bottle with water and you are good to go. I use this everyday, especially where the dog sleeps. It is a great, fresh scent and best part no headache!

Replace your Lysol

Protective Blend has been proven to be effective in keeping us healthy.
2 TBSP On Guard Concentrate in large spray bottle full of water (Or 8-10 drops of oil in 8oz of water)
Excellent for countertops in the kitchen and bathroom.
I also use this for toilet and tub. Safe for kids to use too. (I am all about child labor in this house)

Carpet Deodorizer

2-3 Drops of your choice of oil. I like Purify blend or any of the citrus oils
1-2 Tbsp of baking soda (depending on size of room)
Stir together
Sprinkle on Carpet
Let sit for 5 or 10 minutes
Vacuum

Homemade Lip Balm

1 oz Beeswax
2T. Coconut Oil

more instructions
