Essential Oils for Fall

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

If you remember from our using the herbal oil post, spices are from the root, stem, seed, fruit, or bark of the
plant. This means that Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cassia, Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Coriander, Cumin, Dill,
Fennel, Ginger, and Juniper Berry all fall under the spice category.

Like the herb essential oils, the spice essential oils are all steam distilled.
The part of the plant that each oil comes from varies, however, which is why we included the plant part in individual descriptions of the oil.
All of the spice oils’ most obvious use is in cooking—these are potent oils however, so all that is needed in
most instances is a toothpick.Cooking with these oils helps enhance the flavors in the dish, and also carries over some of the benefits of the spice oil—for example, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cassia, Coriander, and Cumin, Dill, Fennel, and Ginger all maintain gastrointestinal health or promote digestion when taken internally. Cassia and Cinnamon Bark also have been known to support and strengthen the
immune system.
Read on for the list of ways each oil has a unique impact on your body.

My health has suffered in the past, but my future looks bright!

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

When it comes to safety, google ins't enough!

I had absolutely hit a wall. Years of pushing myself too hard in the midst of financial struggles, homeschooling our kids, working long hours growing our business, being part of the Sandwich generation had pushed me to my physical limits.

I was utterly exhausted, struggling with horrible insomnia, my hormones were out of whack and I was barely making it through the day.

The doctors said there wasn’t really anything technically “wrong” with me and didn’t offer me much hope, but I sure didn’t feel right in any sense of the word.

So I kept digging, and once I began learning about things like adrenal fatigue, cortisol levels and the impacts of stress on the body, I knew I was getting closer to finding the source of my troubles.

Life changed a little with kids growing up and mom passing away. You would think my health would also improve. Then, on December 18th, 2016 I slipped on ice and got a concussion resulting in Post Concussion Syndrome.

After much research, I began making diet and lifestyle changes, and then started adding in supplements like adaptogenic herbs as well as really upping my essential oil use, to help restore balance to my endocrine and parasympathetic nervous systems.

It wasn’t miraculous or immediate… I still had to do the hard work of learning to slow down, simplify my life, eat more carefully, rest more often, and learn to manage my stress more effectively, but the support I received from those herbs and oils? It was HUGE. I can’t even say what a difference it made.

Maybe you’ve felt like I did, a bit out of control or that mainstream medical experts didn’t have any answers for you?

If that’s you, I am SO excited to tell you about something that has effective remedies together with solid health information, created by experts you can trust, to give you the confidence you need to keep yourself and your family healthy.

Summer Essentials

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

Spring is in full swing and Summer is just around the corner.
With Summer comes bugs and sun!
Here are the essential EO’s to have to survive the summer.

Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint are a killer combination for seasonal support.
1-2 drops of each to a shot glass of water would be effective at knocking out that discomfort.
We also have these in a veggie cap and make one up daily. We also have TriEase Seasonal Blend ready to go.

Bug Spray

This super concentrated blend only needs to be applied every 4-6 hours. A couple of drops on exposed skin. You can also use 15-20 drops of Protective Blend, with water or Fractionated coconut oil, in a small, dark, glass spray bottle. You want the bottle to be dark so the oil doesn’t loose it’s effectiveness. (found here) If you choose water, shake before each use.
If you’ve already been bit try a couple of drops of Lavender or Melaleuca oil to relieve itching.

Sunscreen Recipe

    • 1/4 C. Coconut oil (SPF4) Found Here
    • 1/4 C. Shea Butter Found Here
    • 1/8 C. Jojoba Oil Found Here
    • 2 T. Beeswax Granules Found Here
    • Non Nano Zinc Oxide. Enough for Found here

Avoid citrus oils in sunscreen because they are photosensitive.
I recommend Lavender because it is soothing to the skin.
This lotion needs to be stored in a dark ie; not opaque container. Sunlight will cause the oils to breakdown and loose effectiveness. I found these, but not in individual containers. Maybe have a lotion making party with your friends.

Sunburn Spritzer if you didn’t get the sunscreen in time:

1 oz Water
2-4 Drops of Lavender
1 Drop Helichrysum (both found here)
1/2 teaspoon of Pure Organic Aloe Vera

Using Essential Oils Aromatically

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

I would love to chat with you about using essential oils aromatically. You know how sometimes fumes from a car can give you a headache? Well smelling essential oils can help uplift your mood, help a headache or stuffy nose, or help you relax before bed.

  • Direct Inhalation
  • Indirect Inhalation
  • Diffusing

Indirect Aromatic Use:

One great way my daughter uses the respiratory blend aromatically is by putting 1-2 drops on a cotton ball and putting it in a snack size Ziploc bag. She can then carry it around with her and just open the baggie as she needs to. She uses this if she is stuffed up from a cold or allergies.
I love to use 3-4 drops of Lavender in a bath. I will sometimes add a little coconut oil, and oh my, SO RELAXING! I advise you to do this only right before bed because you will be useless afterwards.

Add Eucalyptus to a bowl of steaming hot water. Put a towel over your head and the bowl to make a tent.

Diffusing

I love to diffuse oils in the air. Depending on my purpose ie germ killing or mood uplifting, is what oil combo I will add. There are many diffusers out there. I like this one that I purchased in February. I also won this pro version, that has been great as well. Yes, I need two. I actually could use more because the kids like them in their rooms.

Direct

Holding the bottle right up to your nose and smelling it.
Aromatic use of essential oils is a great way to get started using them if you are skeptical.
I recommend Lavender for rest or our uplifting blend for dreary days.
