DIY Moisturizer

by Coach Katey Leave a Comment

Finding a moisturizer that is perfect for your skin can be tricky. Some moisturizers are too tacky, thin, streaky, or simply don’t work for your skin type. Combat these problems by making your own customizable moisturizer in just a few steps. This DIY contains Lavender oil, which is a great oil to use with any skin type, and leaves skin nourished while soothing away minor skin irritations.

Ingredients
⅓ cup aloe vera gel (do not use juice or aloe from a plant as the cream won’t whip properly)
2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil
½ tablespoon beeswax
10 drops Lavender oil

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, gently heat the almond and jojoba oils with the beeswax.
Once melted, transfer your mixture to a deep mixing bowl. Leave to cool for an hour or until the mixture reaches room temperature.
Slowly add the aloe vera gel and Lavender oil as you blend the mixture with a hand blender.
Continue adding aloe until you have reached your desired consistency.
Store in an airtight container and apply to skin liberally.

On Guard Foaming Hand Soap

DIY Foaming Hand Soap with Essential Oils

DIY Foaming Hand Soap with Essential Oils

This is by far the easiest, homemade, frugal On Guard foaming hand soap I have made. You don’t have to use the branded soap dispenser. It is just what I had on hand. I actually plan on using these. Much cuter in my kitchen and bathroom, they just aren’t foaming. I am still in search of the Foaming Hand soap dispenser for Mason Jars.

Why use On Guard Foaming Hand Soap?

On Guard protects against environmental and seasonal threats with essential oils known for their positive effects on the immune system.
This recipe for foaming hand wash is a wonderful, all-natural alternative to the antibacterial hand soaps that are on the market today.

• Supports healthy immune function
• Protects against environmental threats
• Cleanses surfaces
• Purifies the skin while promoting healthy
circulation
• Energizing and uplifting aroma

Of course, it is great for babies as well! All soaps are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program. All soaps are also certified Fair Trade. Homemade Lip Balm

Homemade Lip Balm Recipe

melting
Melting down all of the ingredients in a ‘double boiler’ of sorts. A bowl over a pot of boiling water.

melted
It took awhile for the beeswax to melt down. The Beeswax Pellets would probably be easier to melt down.

fillingtubes
I used a dropper (found here) to fill the tubes individually.

finishedtubes
Arial view of finished tubes. (find tubes here)

lipbalmtub

Arial view of little tubs (found here)….think Carmex….only this was a FAIL. Carmex is soft. This balm gets soft from the warmth of your lips. You can’t get to your lips with the little tub so I had to pop these out and melt them down again to put them in tubes.

Ingredients
1 oz Beeswax
2T. Coconut Oil
1T. Shea Butter
1T. Cocoa Butter
20 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Instructions
In a double boiler melt everything, except essential oils, together until well blended.
Remove from heat
Add essential oils
Stir
Pour into lip balm tubes
Place the tubes in the refrigerator after capping
Notes
I used 8-10 drops of peppermint and it was super mild…..If you want it a little zingy add more.
You could also use Wild Orange Essential Oil
